This presentation will discuss spinal cord injury, levels and syndromes of spinal cord injury and medical and functional complications of spinal cord injury. A practical way will be given to estimate your patient’s functional level of injury in order to plan and implement their care.

Bio:

Dr. Margi Williams is Adjunct Nursing Faculty at Brenau University, Norcross, Ga and a Senior Reviewer for the Rehabilitation Collection, Elsevier Clinical Solutions, Philadelphia, PA. She has 27 years of experience on the acute pediatric Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, GA and 10 years of experience at Shepherd Spinal Center, Atlanta, GA. In addition, she has almost 20 years-experience as a Nurse Practitioner working with adults with developmental disabilities and mental health disorders in the group home community setting. She is a researcher and inventor. Her interests include working with patients with cognitive and neurologic disorders, patient/family education for those with literacy challenges, and transitioning from pediatric to adult care. She has been actively involved with ARN for over 25 years having given numerous conference presentations, authored rehabilitation nursing guidelines, author-presenter of an ARN Webinar and a CARF Webinar, and author-presenter of several presentations for ARNs PRN (Professional Rehabilitation Nursing) course, in addition to other ARN volunteer activities.
